December Update

Christmas Get Together for Volunteers, 5.30pm, Monday 18th December

Come along and meet other artists and volunteers, bring a plate to share and celebrate all we have achieved in our first two months!

Thanks to all the artists, supporters, volunteers and buyers who attended our official opening at 38 Bank Street and the launch of our first exhibition at Glyph Gallery and Creative Space. It was a lively affair with over one hundred visitors, a welcome to country, an opening by the mayor and a thoughtful speech from Eda Ritchie. Special thanks to Kay O'Connell for catering and Conlan's for running the bar. Jill Edwards, Paul and Sian Burman were kept busy recording sales and it was wonderful to see so many local artists in attendance. All artworks will remain on display until the close of the exhibition at the end of January. All artworks are to be collected prior to Sunday 4th February. Sold artworks will be collected by the buyers or artists will arrange delivery by negotiation with the buyer. Unsold works should also be collected by 4th December.

Congratulations to Marjorie and Mike Raetz, who sold all of their entries. Marjorie has never exhibited before and never sold an artwork, so she is off to an excellent start!

"In Blue" a summer exhibition by Jill Edwards at 70 Model Lane

Pop-Up Gallery at Botanical Studios, 25 Brown St, Allansford.

Marion Gorr, artist and owner of "Beautiful Silks", a supplier to felters, dyers, stitchers and other textile artists, has opened her home studio gallery over summer. She is open between 10am and 3pm until the end of January, by appointment. Contact her via the "Beautiful Silks" Facebook page.

"Nature, Red in Tooth and Claw", a printmaking exhibition by Britt Gow.

If you haven't been to "Charlies on East" lately, pop in over the summer holidays and see hand-pulled linocuts and collagraphs. The exhibition finishes at the end of January. Britt will also be running printmaking workshops during term 1 and 2. You can contact her at brittgow@gmail.com.

Photographer, Shop Committee Members and Exhibitors needed!

If you have skills and knowledge you would like to share, or simply enthusiasm and the willingness to learn, we have several volunteer roles that need to be filled. A photographer who can take images of new artwork as it goes on display in the shop, arrange photos of artists at work and be available to take photos at events, is required. Our marketing and social media requires great images to represent our artists in the best manner possible and attract visitors to the gallery. Contact info@swmakers.com.au

Secondly, we are looking for one or two more people to join the shop curatorial team, appraising and displaying artworks, labelling and entering stock, amongst other duties. Currently there are three in the team, but just to spread the load across a couple more helpers would be great. Contact the shop team at shop@swmakers.com.au

Although we have already had several enquiries, we would like to fill the 2024 calendar with one exhibition each month. If you know anyone who is interested in a solo or group exhibition, contact the exhibition team at exhibitions@swmakers.com.au
