Thank you to all our members and other artists who submitted artworks for our annual community exhibition. We have had great feedback from the many locals and visitors who came through the gallery and several sales. Buyers and artists are asked to please collect their artworks between 10.00am Sunday 2nd February and 4.00pm Tuesday 4th February. If you are unable to collect your artworks between these times, please contact the exhibition committee (exhibitions@swmakers.com.au) to make alternative arrangements.

Our next exhibition is "Etched in Memory", paintings by Leanne Onley, from the Grampians region. The opening of that exhibition will be Thursday 6th February at 6.00pm. We encourage all members and the wider community to come along and support Leanne, especially since the tragic and worrying bushfires and evacuations over the summer season.

As part of the Moyneyana Festival, we had a very successful family workshop day at Glyph's Creative Space creating fish sculptures from cane and tissue paper! This was initiated and led by Freya Marriott & Robert Gatt, and a team of enthusiastic volunteers, and entertained some 50+ children over the course of two separate workshops! Brilliant effort, and wonderful results! Happy faces everywhere!

Merrian Dennis is a visual artist living in country Victoria. Merrian has formal qualifications in Ceramics and the Visual Arts from the Ballarat University. Her work is described as expressionistic with a strong use of line and form; clearly influenced by her background working in clay. Merrian’s artwork reflects the rural volcanic landscape of the Western District, the female form of the wide horizon and discarded domestic objects. Her studio is situated at Lake Gnotuk in Western Victoria. Participants in this workshop will be exposed to a range of art-making techniques using ink, paint and collage to explore line, shape, texture, composition and the aesthetics of mark-making from a contemporary viewpoint. 'Seascapes' will be the starting position as we experiment and loosen up our style in developing an idea and investigate the possibilities of working on paper.

Mosaics with Jodie Mathews

9am - 4pm, Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 November.

$190 (members $160)

Register here.

And finally ...

Please tell anyone who you think might be interested in any of these workshops and exhibitions. We would love to be able to continue offering a strong range of workshops and your support is necessary for us to do so.

Have you dropped in to the Gallery lately? There are always new things being added to our display rooms. Pop in and have a fresh look around, and maybe tick a couple of gifts off your Christmas list at the same time.

See you at one of our special events soon!

The Team at Glyph Gallery & Creative Space.
