“Waves Unchartered” - the first solo show of paintings by Jenny Vick

Opening 6pm Thursday, 2 May 2024 - runs to the end of May.

at Glyph Gallery, Bank Street, Port Fairy

From Jenny: "I have been painting for just over ten years and this is my first solo show; the result of a wave of productivity. My medium of choice is oil and my motivation when painting is to create realist and appealing results. I work from my own photos and my objective is to convey the sense of the scene before me. The addition of detail is a challenge I relish in the process of bringing the painting to life. My inspiration primarily comes from the natural landscapes that surround me, both local and afar. This group of paintings is dominated by local scenes, but also featured are some locations from memorable journeys interstate and overseas.

In regard to the title Waves Unchartered this group of paintings doesn’t necessarily include the ocean but are a reference to the “Waves” of life. Some are familiar and re-occurring and others new and difficult to navigate. All the waves remind me to keep diving in and ride the surf the best way possible."
