TURNING TIDES: FROM MARINE DEBRIS TO INNOVATIVE ART

This is a 2 days workshop: Sat 22 and Sun 23 August. 9 am - 4 pm.

Join well known Tasmanian basket maker Mahdi Chandler to transform ocean waste into impactful art in this hands-on, interactive workshop. Participants will explore the environmental impact of marine debris while learning creative upcycling techniques. You will guide salvaged plastics, ghost nets, and coastal litter into unique, baskets, meaningful sculptures or practical items. Perfect for all skill levels. Join us to clean our coastlines and unlock your creative potential!

Tools and equipment to bring

Needles: chenille 18/16 or 13. Heavy duty, large eye, sharp point.

Small pliers if you have them.

Rugged shears/cutters/scissors would be usefull. There will be some to share.

Some beach treasures from own collection that you might like to incorporate.

Glove - these could be rubber/latex or gardening cloves - gloves can make it easier for stitching and to protect your hands.

Tea and coffee provided, please bring your own lunch or support the local businesses buy buying lunch just down the street.

Please note: entry to the workshop is down the driveway to the left of the building.

Cancellations to up until 6 weeks before the workshop – refund 80% of workshop fee paid. Cancellations after that date 50% refund.Glyph Gallery & Creative Space reserves the right to cancel a workshop if the minimum class enrolment is not reached 1 weeks before the workshop is due to commence. If a workshop is cancelled, participants will be offered a full refund
