HAT MAKING WORKSHOP

(Intermediate to confident sewing skills)

A fun one day workshop where you will sew your own custom-made sunhat/bucket hat. Nicole will share practical tips on getting the right fit, the subtleties of shaping the crown and brim, and the many ways to vary the design to suit your personal style. Walk away with a beautifully made hat ready for summer, new sewing skills, and the confidence to keep creating at home.

This workshop is for people with intermediate to confident sewing skills - are you comfortable using your sewing machine?

Materials:

• Cardboard pattern templates will be provided for people to trace, but if they want to take home the You Sew Girl Hat pattern, it will be $20.

• BYO fabric - a non-stretch mid-weight (broadcloth/patchwork fabric through to light denim weight) cotton, hemp, linen or wool would be best.

• sewing maching, thread etc and all your general sewing notions ie scissors etc

• $10 materials fee (covers interfacing etc) to ba paid in cash at the workshop

About the tutor: Nikki Mallalieu

Nicole Mallalieu is a pattern designer, educator and author known for her warm, approachable teaching style, as well as her You Sew Girl!! Patterns and books – The Savvy Seamstress, the Better Bag maker and Your Sew Gil!!

With a background in design patternmaking and production development < Nicloe brings valuable industrial insight to her classes translating professional techniques into clear achievable steps for makers of all levels. Over the past 25 years, she  has taught in higher education at Billu Blue College of design and Collarts, online with Creativebug, and through workshops guilds and community programs – helping students build skills confidence and pride in what they create.

Tea and Coffee is provided, please bring your own lunch or there are many option for takeways just down the street.

Refund Policy​To assist in the management of this workshop a cancellation process is essential. Your cancellation must be emailed to:  info@swmakers.com.au

Cancellations to up until 6 weeks before the workshop – refund 80% of workshop fee paid. Cancellations after that date 50% refund.Glyph Gallery & Creative Space reserves the right to cancel a workshop if the minimum class enrolment is not reached 1 weeks before the workshop is due to commence. If a workshop is cancelled, participants will be offered a full refund
