In this painting workshop you will learn techniques and approaches to handle colour. We will explore materials, pigments, and approaches to mixing and applying paint to create rich, harmonious paintings. We will look at how colour helps us express how we feel about what we paint. The workshop will focus on acrylic paints.

Materials List:

Your usual art kit plus:

 Acrylic paints (Golden heavy body recommended or your preferred brand)

· Hansa Yellow Light

· Pthalo Blue (green shade)

· Quinacridone Magenta (or Primary Magenta)

· Cadmium Orange (or Pyrrole Orange)

· Dioxazine Purple

· Permanent Green Light

· Titanium White

• Plastic  palette knives
• Brushes:  Neef or similar Short Flat Taklon 5mm, 10mm and 25mm (on the Seniors website you will find them under “watercolour & gouache brushes” in  synthetic/flat.)
• Easy clean palette (not wood) or tear-off palette book
• Sketchbook with watercolour paper or canvas pages
• Masking tape
• 2 x 10 or 12 inch square canvases. Size is less important than that they are square.
• Sketching easel or table easel
• Water container
• Kitchen paper
• Landscape photographs to use for  subject matter. These are best printed on paper at photo quality if possible.
